Halal Capsule Identification Guide
1. Plant derived capsules (priority recommendation)
Ingredients: Hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC), cassava starch, carrageenan and other pure plant-based materials.
Advantages: Natural avoidance of animal slaughter disputes, unconditionally recognized by mainstream halal certification bodies worldwide (such as MUI in Indonesia and JAKIM in Malaysia).
2. Animal gelatin capsules (with strict conditions)

3. Absolutely prohibited capsule types
Pig gelatin capsules: Regardless of the manufacturing process, all are prohibited.
Capsules with questionable ingredients: Any of the following is illegal:
Undisclosed source of glycerol/magnesium stearate (possibly from pigs)
Alcohol solubilizers (such as ethanol, propylene glycol)
Non halal slaughtered animal derived ingredients (such as bovine bone calcium)
4. Key identification actions (mandatory for manufacturers/consumers)
Certification label: The capsule packaging or raw material testing report must have an authoritative Halal logo (such as the China International Association for Standardization, IFANCA, GCC logo).
Ingredient traceability: Gelatin must indicate the animal species and slaughter method (e.g. "beef source (halal slaughter)").
Production statement: The manufacturer promises in writing that the production line has not been disinfected with alcohol and is being produced using specialized equipment.
